The mechanism that locks and secures a uPVC door is called a “multipoint lock” or mpl for short. To operate this mpl, lift the door handle and turn the key to lock it. While these locks work great when new, they can fail after years of use. On average, they last for around 10-12 years.

Will I need a new door?

How much will this cost?

The cost of a new uPVC or composite door, including installation, can vary greatly. It’s usually £600 to £1,500. But, companies such as Everest and Anglian may charge even more and try to sell you new windows.

In contrast, a genuine, original mpl costs between £160 and £210. This cost includes all materials and labour. This repair should last 10-12 years and comes with a two-year guarantee. After replacing the mpl, we’ll give your door a full service and check for any other issues.

If you also need new door handles or a lock barrel, we can do this at the same time. You could also take this opportunity to upgrade to a high-security anti-snap lock.
